In order to ride any motorcycle the first step is to complete Compulsory Basic Training or CBT. This is a one day course, at the end of which a certificate will be issued if the rider shows competence in all aspects of road riding and bike control. The certificate will enable the holder to ride any motorbike up to 125cc, except for people aged 16 who will only be able to ride a 50cc machine. However a CBT certificate does not allow the rider to take people as a pillion, or ride on motorways and the bike must display L-plates. CBT courses are run seven days a week and include bike hire, petrol, insurance and equipment hire if needs be. Prices vary slightly if bike hire is needed or not, so please contact us for more information on course costs and availability.

Once the CBT course has been completed and a certificate is issued, there is then the option to take the practical full motorcycle test. On passing the full test the licence holder will be able to discard their L-plates, ride any size motorbike (up to 33bhp) on motorways, and take people on the back! This is what is known as the restricted licence and restricts the persons licence to 33bhp for 2 years. After this period the licence is then automatically upgraded to ride any motorbike in the world! In order to sit any practical test the licence holder must have a CBT certificate and a Theory Test pass certificate. Full licence courses for a restricted licence are generally 2 or 3 day courses depending on the riders' experience, with the practical test on the last day. Again, prices do vary if bike hire is needed or not, so please contact us for more information on course costs and availability.
